Vinta Bordeaux, represented by Mr Hamilton Narby and Mr Martin Kissac, emerged as the winners of this Mauritian National qualifying event which took place at the fabulous Heritage Golf Club on the 6th of June.
Out of the 250 players who had been invited to register for the event, only the first 34 teams to register were booked to participate. After a few days of rainy weather, the tournament took place on a ravishing sunny day with just the right breeze to make it a perfect Golf Day for the 68 participants competing for the well sought after winning spot which would give them the ticket to the world finals.
In addition to the star prize which was the main objective for all participating teams, there were 5 ‘challenge’ holes organized by the sponsors for the players, making their rounds even more exciting, and where both player and partner were to be granted prizes to encourage their ‘team’ effort. These were as follows:
a) A Hole in One (with the chance to win the latest BMW Series 1 model, showcased on the tee);
b) Two ‘Nearest to the Pin’ competitions;
c) Two ‘Longest Drive’ competitions.
Although there were a couple of close calls, unfortunately nobody managed to score the hole in one. The winners of the other challenge holes all brought home several prizes.
The lucky winners were:
Nearest to the Pins: Mr Yannick Merven (Panagora team) & Mr Jean Michel Pitot (Attitude Resorts team) Longest Drives: Mr Jeff Pacheteau (LSM Consulting team) & Mr Christophe Ramdiane (Heritage Awali Golf team)
Given the prevailing good weather conditions and the beautifully maintained Golf course, the players managed to post some nice scores and in the end the Narby-Kissac pair came out with 65 points on the card, just one point better than the Buffard-Bouchez (from Procontact), and came from behind to clinch in the last couple of holes the title and their tickets to the world finals in Portugal. The Cridlan-Barnhoorn pair (from Milestone Constructions team) posted 62 points to take the overall third prize.
At the prize giving, the sponsors have communicated their immense satisfaction about their first take on this tournament and look forward to next year’s edition where they intend for this qualifying event to have an even better impact on the local Corporate World.
For the time being, both AXYS and Affluent Options Ltd (licensee to WCGC in Mauritius) are thrilled to be sending out the Vinta Bordeaux team to represent Mauritius in Portugal at the end of this month.
